A high strength option from the Hamburg based distillery. AKA “navy strength,” it’s inspired by a style once offered by the Royal English Navy when Gin was put to the test by lighting it with gunpowder. This edition employs twice the quantity of botanicals with a focus on African buchu, sweet orange peel and herbaceous mountain pine.
Bottled at 57% ABV, the labels in this series carry the names of the so-called “Magnificent Seven”: the strongest and most impressive elephants known to Kruger National Park, South Africa. These precious bull elephants all bore tusks weighing more than 50kg each.
The full, intense perfume is at first dryish, rooty, earthy. Second pass accents celery leaf, dried herbs, coriander, orange peel, ripe juniper and hints of liquorice root. An oily, juniper-drenched delivery with superbly integrated flavours of pepper, orris root, pine and liquorice through the booming finish. Excellent persistence, with the creamy mouthfeel lingering.
